Frequently Asked Questions
Answers for Attendees & Vendors
Rock & Gem Expo travels to cities across Ontario throughout the year, bringing together crystal, gemstone, and mineral vendors alongside hands-on activities for the whole family. Below you’ll find answers to the questions we hear most from both attendees and vendors — if yours isn’t here, reach out to us at info@rockandgemexpo.com.
Everything You Need to Know Before You Attend or Vend
What's the difference between a Rock and Gem Show and a Rock and Gem Expo?
They’re the same kind of event — “rock and gem show” and “rock and gem expo” are just two common ways people refer to our events. At Rock & Gem Expo, you’ll find dozens of vendors under one roof selling crystals, gemstones, minerals, jewellery, and unique finds, plus hands-on activities like our geode cracking and gem sifting stations.
Are you associated with Rock N Gem Expo?
No — Rock & Gem Expo is an independent, sole proprietorship venture, led by a team of seasoned vendors who have worked at other shows in the past. We are not affiliated with Rock N Gem Expo or any similarly named event. As of July 2026, we have an active trademark application for our name.
How do I know I'm buying legitimate tickets?
We sell tickets online exclusively through Eventbrite. We’ve been made aware of fake ticket listings that are not associated with us in any way, so if you’re not purchasing through our official Eventbrite page, please treat them as unverified. Tickets are always available for purchase at the door.
Is the event family-friendly?
Yes — families are a big part of what we do. Kids and adults alike enjoy our geode cracking and gem sifting stations, and the show floor is designed to be welcoming for first-timers and lifelong collectors alike.
What kinds of vendors will I find at the show?
Our lineup changes from city to city, but you can typically expect crystals and minerals, large statement specimens, gemstone jewellery, and curiosities and natural oddities. Many of our shows also include a mix of service-based vendors — think tarot and psychic readings, energy work, and other practices connected to the crystal and mineral world. Availability varies by event, so if there’s a specific type of vendor you’re hoping to see, check the event page for your city closer to the date.
Can I bring in a personal item to have it identified?
We don’t have a single booth dedicated to identification, but attendees can bring specimens in for a second opinion. Our advice: look for a vendor booth with something similar to your piece on display, then ask if they’re willing to take a look. Most vendors are happy to share their knowledge.
Is there free parking at the events?
As we plan each and every event, we choose venues that either provide free parking (through an attached parking lot) or are located in an area where free street parking is allowed. This often depends on the venue itself, so we do post parking details on our social media accounts the week before each event. The only situation of concern that we have experienced is attendees arriving when the parking lot is full — so you may want to scout the surrounding area for options just in case this happens.
Can I sell or trade items I already own?
Rock & Gem Expo is a vendor marketplace rather than a buy-and-trade event, so we don’t have a formal system for attendees to sell to vendors on-site.
Can I negotiate prices with vendors?
Pricing is set individually by each vendor, so it varies booth to booth. Some vendors might be open to negotiation, especially on multiple-item purchases and large specimens — it never hurts to ask, but it cannot be guaranteed. The Rock & Gem Expo management team does not profit from vendor sales, so we cannot facilitate any deals.
What payment methods can I use?
This depends on the vendor — most accept card and cash, and many take e-transfer as well. We’d recommend bringing some cash as a backup in case a vendor’s card reader has connectivity issues, which can happen at busy venues.
Do you accept service-based vendors, like readers or energy healers?
We do. While it’s not guaranteed for every show, our events often include a mix of service-based offerings. Many of these vendors create discounted packages for short 15–30 minute appointments on the spot. A couple of things to plan for: the venue can get busy and a bit noisy, and you’ll need to bring your own equipment (a massage table or chairs, for example) since we don’t provide those on-site.
How do I apply to become a vendor?
You can apply directly through the vendor forms on our Vendors page. Applications for available spots for upcoming shows are listed there. You can also subscribe to our vendor mailing list to be the first to know when we book a new event.
What's included in the vendor booth fee?
Your booth fee covers your space at the venue (accounts for your portion of the rental cost + hydro use) and a $25 contribution toward advertising. Rock & Gem Expo doesn’t profit from vendor fees and does not take any cut from vendor sales; the funds go directly into running and promoting the event.
What happens if an event is postponed or cancelled?
If we need to postpone an event, we’ll provide updated details and alternative options as soon as they’re available. If an event is cancelled outright, ticket holders will be provided with a full refund.
How do I find out when you're coming to my city?
The best way is to join our mailing list — we announce new cities and dates by email when each is finalized.
